We rated the Weber 731001 Smokey Mountain Cooker #3 in our 2011 Round Up. This smoker is great for either the professional or novice. We had it assembled and ready for service in about 30 minutes. We then “adjusted” the front door slightly by twisting and moving it to make a perfect seal around the housing. If anyone ever mentions that they can’t keep a good temperature with the 731001, tell them to “adjust” the door, it works every time. We then ran our smoker through the paces by firing it up for a small smoke to burn in the paint, we recommend doing this to any smoker you might purchase. The next day, we smoked a whole turkey and four whole chickens with plenty of room to spare, the taste was simply amazing.
So how does the Weber 731001 compare to it’s little brother the Weber 721001 Smokey Mountain Cooker 18.5-Inch Smoker? Identical, but bigger. This is a time when bigger isn’t necessarily better, at least for most people out there. If you’re going to cook for a small family most of the time, the 18.5 inch Smokey Mountain is a better choice, you’ll save some money on the smoker and save money on each smoke due to using less charcoal. But, if you plan on cooking for your family and inviting friends over most of the time, you would be better off with this smoker.
Weber has out done themselves again, this smoker is right in line with it’s little brother. It holds a temperature very well, whether it’s 200 degrees or 350 degrees, no need to run out and check on it every few hours. It’s built well and you’ll have years of great service from this smoker. If you’re cooking for 10 or more people on a regular basis, you’ll be happy you made the decision to go with this smoker.

The Bradley Digital 4 Rack Smoker is a sibling of our #3 Rated smoker in our 201 Round Up, the Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food Smoker. The Bradley Digital 4 Rack Smoker was delivered with similar packaging to the BTIS1. This Bradley is easy to use as well. Just plug it in, fill the water pan with water, load up the bisquettes and preheat it. Then fill it with your choice of meats and lower the temperature. That’s truely all there is to do with this smoker, it’s that easy. The Bradley smokers also come with instructions and recipes for some sauces and rubs, it’s fool proof. Another excellent feature is that the racks, water pan and tray all fit in the dishwasher so clean ups are quick and easy.
The Bradley Digital Smoker makes it even easier for the beginner than most other smokers. If you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to constantly watch a smoker all day and instead want to “fire it and forget it” this smoker is perfect for you.

We rated the Bradley BTIS1 #4 in our 2010 Round Up. This is a great smoker but didn’t perform quite as well as the Weber 721001 Smokey Mountain Cooker, our #1 rated smoker.
The Bradley BTIS1 arrived in a very well insulated box and didn’t take us long to set it up and run it through it’s first smoke to “break in” the unit. This smoker, like the 3 top rated smokers in our 2010 Round Up, is so easy to use it’s almost a crime. You feel like you should tell your guests and family just how easy it was and how you were almost not even involved in the process. It’s as easy as pluging it in, filling the water pan, load the bisquettes and preheat. Once you’ve preheated the Bradley, put in your prepared meats and adjust down the temperature to your desired heat, that’s it! Enjoy some mouth watering smoked ribs, briskets, salmon or anything else you can get your hands on. We haven’t burned or uncooked any type of meats we’ve tried to this date.
The reason we didn’t rate the Bradley BTIS1 higher in our Round Up was because we felt the heating unit was a little under powered. It’s great for most meats but if you like your smoked chicken to have a crispy skin, you’ll have to finish it off in the oven. That’s the only drawback we noticed with this unit. If you don’t care for crispy skin on your chicken or high temperature smokes, this is a great smoker for either beginners or pros who just want to “set it and forget it”.
