We rated the Masterbuilt 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker our #2 Smoker of 2011. The Smokehouse Smoker is a great smoker for beginners, but no for professionals or people who have smoked in the past. Out main reason for rating this smoker #2 is based heavily on the inexpensive price. Our smoker arrived in good condition but right from the start we could tell the quality control of the manufacturing wasn’t quite up to par since the holes and screws didn’t quite line up. After a little bit of maneuvering the pieces to complete the assembly, we were off to the races! We smoked baby back ribs and whole chickens perfectly without any problems. Once you’ve got the Smokehouse assembled you should have no problems cooking like a pro in no time. There as been a large complaint from many owners that the heating element will fail within 1-2 years. The heating element can be replaced but the cost and time needed just aren’t worth it. By that time, you will know if you want to continue to smoke like so many other people who have been “bitten by the smoking bug”, at that time move up to our #1 rated product.

If you’re new to smoking and not sure you’ll like it or are on a tight budget, the Smokehouse Smoker is a great beginners product. If you’ve got the extra money or know you’ll love smoking, don’t delay and move up to the Weber 721001 Smokey Mountain Cooker 18.5-Inch Smoker. If you’re budget doesn’t allow for the more expensive smokers, pick is one up and start smoking, you’ll be hooked on smoking and happy you took that first step.
