No more tending the coals every hour when smoking meats; Meco's Combo Water Smoker offers optimal control, longer cook time, and less monitoring than traditional charcoal smokers. The Meco 5030 Electric Grill and Smoker is a great little smoker for someone who doesn’t want all the fuss of monitoring the coals of a traditional smoker. This Meco smoker has longer cook times, less tending to and more control over smoking than traditional smokers found in the marketplace. This smoker is perfect for fish, chicken and other kinds of meat due to the two step process of using both boiling water (steam) to keep the meat moist and burning wood chips to smoke the meat at the same time. The thermostat has three settings; low, medium and high which helps you control the temperature within the smoker, this type of temperature isn’t found in traditional charcoal smokers.
An added feature of the Meco 5030 is that it doubles as a standard electric grill because it plugs right into a standard electrical outlet. Due to the large 15.5 inch cooking grids within the smoker, you’ve got a large 351 square inch smoking surface which means you can cook up to 50 pounds of meat at any given time. The Meco also has a large pan with porcelain glazing to hold 5.5 quarts of water which should last up to 5 hours to really extend your smoking time with less human interaction. It also has easy access doors with slide open to make adding more water if needed if your cooking for an extended period of time. This is a big plus for this smoker, having these sliding doors with convenient access for both water and wood chips means that there will be little heat loss. When comparing this to standard smokers which must be accessed through the top lid, the difference could have an effect on your meats tenderness and costs due to the loss in temperature. Another plus of this smoker is the ample 1,500 watt heating element which is powerful enough to heat the whole smoker so you don’t have problems with the lower grid smoking the meat properly while the top grid not having enough heat to adequately do the job.
All in all, this is a nice grill/smoker combo for anyone who’s interested in learning to smoke or the seasoned pro with tons of experience.

We rated the Bradley BTIS1 #4 in our 2010 Round Up. This is a great smoker but didn’t perform quite as well as the Weber 721001 Smokey Mountain Cooker, our #1 rated smoker.
The Bradley BTIS1 arrived in a very well insulated box and didn’t take us long to set it up and run it through it’s first smoke to “break in” the unit. This smoker, like the 3 top rated smokers in our 2010 Round Up, is so easy to use it’s almost a crime. You feel like you should tell your guests and family just how easy it was and how you were almost not even involved in the process. It’s as easy as pluging it in, filling the water pan, load the bisquettes and preheat. Once you’ve preheated the Bradley, put in your prepared meats and adjust down the temperature to your desired heat, that’s it! Enjoy some mouth watering smoked ribs, briskets, salmon or anything else you can get your hands on. We haven’t burned or uncooked any type of meats we’ve tried to this date.
The reason we didn’t rate the Bradley BTIS1 higher in our Round Up was because we felt the heating unit was a little under powered. It’s great for most meats but if you like your smoked chicken to have a crispy skin, you’ll have to finish it off in the oven. That’s the only drawback we noticed with this unit. If you don’t care for crispy skin on your chicken or high temperature smokes, this is a great smoker for either beginners or pros who just want to “set it and forget it”.
Great smoker that is 100% automatic and has 4 racks
Heats up to 280 degrees F with a 500 watt cooking and 125 watt smoking element

Can cook up to 8 hours without user intervention, also includes drip bowl and tray
Has a one year warranty with dimensions of 14.5(depth) X 17(width) X 31(height) inches and weighing in at 42 pounds

The Bradley Digital 4 Rack Smoker is a sibling of our #3 Rated smoker in our 201 Round Up, the Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food Smoker. The Bradley Digital 4 Rack Smoker was delivered with similar packaging to the BTIS1. This Bradley is easy to use as well. Just plug it in, fill the water pan with water, load up the bisquettes and preheat it. Then fill it with your choice of meats and lower the temperature. That’s truely all there is to do with this smoker, it’s that easy. The Bradley smokers also come with instructions and recipes for some sauces and rubs, it’s fool proof. Another excellent feature is that the racks, water pan and tray all fit in the dishwasher so clean ups are quick and easy.
The Bradley Digital Smoker makes it even easier for the beginner than most other smokers. If you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to constantly watch a smoker all day and instead want to “fire it and forget it” this smoker is perfect for you.

4 cooking racks for plenty of smoking area

We rated the Masterbuilt 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker our #2 Smoker of 2011. The Smokehouse Smoker is a great smoker for beginners, but no for professionals or people who have smoked in the past. Out main reason for rating this smoker #2 is based heavily on the inexpensive price. Our smoker arrived in good condition but right from the start we could tell the quality control of the manufacturing wasn’t quite up to par since the holes and screws didn’t quite line up. After a little bit of maneuvering the pieces to complete the assembly, we were off to the races! We smoked baby back ribs and whole chickens perfectly without any problems. Once you’ve got the Smokehouse assembled you should have no problems cooking like a pro in no time. There as been a large complaint from many owners that the heating element will fail within 1-2 years. The heating element can be replaced but the cost and time needed just aren’t worth it. By that time, you will know if you want to continue to smoke like so many other people who have been “bitten by the smoking bug”, at that time move up to our #1 rated product.
If you’re new to smoking and not sure you’ll like it or are on a tight budget, the Smokehouse Smoker is a great beginners product. If you’ve got the extra money or know you’ll love smoking, don’t delay and move up to the Weber 721001 Smokey Mountain Cooker 18.5-Inch Smoker. If you’re budget doesn’t allow for the more expensive smokers, pick is one up and start smoking, you’ll be hooked on smoking and happy you took that first step.
