Editor Review
We rated the Weber 721001 Smokey Mountain Cooker #1 in our 2011 Round Up. This smoker is ideal for both the seasoned pro and the beginner. We had great success with our smoker whether we were cooking chickens or baby-back ribs, the meat came out perfect every time.
The Smokey Mountain took next to no time to build, only 30 minutes and the pre-constructed holes lined up perfectly for a flawless assembly. The smoker also only weights 52 lbs. so it’s easy to pack up and move if you’re going to need it on a trip. We used our smokers in the middle of the summer and also in the dead of winter with surprising similar results, the temperature always stayed at what we set for hours with no need for human interaction. We did find if it’s a windy winter day, we advise to protect the smoker from the wind as the temperature will drop from the constant battering of the cold wind, other than that your smoker will keep on smoking. We did hear that some readers did have problems with their built-in thermometer not reading correctly. We had no problem with ours but our recommendation is to pick up an inexpensive oven thermometer and put in on the rack next to your meats, problem solved.
The Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker is one of the best smokers available on the market today. If you’re in the market for a new smoker I highly recommend this unit, there’s nothing that comes close to it based on price and performance.
